100 Days Of Meditation (Round 1)

Main Commitment: I will meditate every day.

Background

I want to train diffused attention to decrease stress level. I do not want to focus more because narrow-focus increases a lot of stress I cannot tolerate. Another goal is to absorbed myself in the surrounding.

  • Tried different meditation apps

Thoughts and Emotions:

I like RelaxMeditation and Oak apps.

RelaxMeditation has very long music.

Oak has body-scan meditation.

Thoughts and Emotions:

Initially, when using RelaxMeditation as background music, I felt good. After very long, I felt boring.

Thoughts and Emotions:

Recently, I read several books about neuroscience. I am motivated by the goal of improving the brain.

Most of the activity of a person in one day is controlled by unconsciousness, i.e., habit. I want to develop meditation to be a habit. I waked up for one hour this morning and resumed sleeping. During the wake-up time, the brain produced alpha brainwave, which contains both conscious and unconscious stages. It is easier to develop habits to be that stage. I made use of this stage to make meditation a habit this morning

I realized how I developed meditation in middle school.

I have to recite knowledge in middle school. While lying in bed, I recalled the things in the mind. When distracted, I gently move the attention back.

The same thing happened to think about difficult mathematics problems lying in bed before sleep in college.

I can think of meditation automatically when I take an eluevator. It can means I develop the habit of meditation in elevators.

These are two of my favorite old chinese sentences. I recited them a lot in mind. Today I recited in a written form.

The freqency of recalling the sentences increases. I am very happy to notice it.

If I do not meditate when waking up during the night, then I will play video games. It is bad.


Day 21: 2019-05-05 Sunday

Even if I meditate when waking up during the night, I still sleep until 11 a.m. My sleep cycle is still not satisfying.

  • 30-miniute Meditation in bed

Thoughts and Emotions:

30 minutes in the morning. Then I slept for a while. It seemed to be a good sleep.

  • 45-miniute Meditation in bed

Thoughts and Emotions:

Meditation was divided into two sections, 28 minutes, and 17 minutes. I did not like both audios. It is hard to imagine “exhale stress.”


Day 25: 2019-08-21 Wednesday

  • 15-miniute Meditation in bed

Thoughts and Emotions:

I slept from 1pm to 5pm tonight. It was a nice long sleep. Recent days, I sleep 1.5-2 hours then wake up. It is hard to resume sleeping.

I tried to open eyes while meditating. I cannot help feeling sleepy. Then the audios were playing while I was sleeping.

Thoughts and Emotions:

For the first time, I can complete one audio without sleep.

I have tension on the scalp when I have a narrow focus. I am looking for ways to alleviate.

Today I meditated several times. In the morning, after meditation, I didn’t fall asleep. In the afternoon, I practiced meditation again. I tended to wake up several times at night. Then I tried to mediate after waking up.
